Student software developers finding jobs
Students at Maharishi University of Management Computer Professionals Program are connecting with more practical training positions at US companies because of their thorough training, and because the market is improving.
In their job search workshop, students learn networking skills that make a difference. Tan Nhu was hired this week by CIE Studios of Long Beach, CA as a Senior Application Software Developer. Tan found this job by doing a word search for a “senior java script developer” on LinkedIn. Tan says, “In America you have to be able to connect with the employer personally before you can do business with him. I learned how to do this in the career strategies workshop from practicing so many times with so many people.”
Favorable job market
The US job market is becoming more supportive for software developersl. A recent article on InfoWorld.com reports current studies showing that "development budgets are actually increasing despite the recession, and the market for programming jobs will still grow by 7.4 percent in 2009. The U.S. Department of Labor ranks software engineering as the country's fourth fastest-growing occupation, a trend it expects to continue through 2016."
“This news that software development is expanding in the depressed economy gives us real confidence in the job security and stability in our industry," said M.U.M. Computer Science Director of Recruiting, John Revolinski. "Computer professionals should be reassured that graduate level studies in software engineering and practical training through our M.S. program is a wise investment in the future.”
