Professor is also an IBM global expert

Professor Ali Arsanjani knows what users are looking for from software architects and engineers, and this is what he has been teaching his students since 1994. At MUM he has developed and taught courses in: Software Architecture, Software Engineering, Service-oriented Architecture (SOA), Advanced Software Development, and Artificial Intelligence.

IBM technical expert

When not in the MUM classroom, Dr. Arsanjani is CTO of Emerging Technologies within IBM Global Services. He leads a team responsible for developing worldwide competency in service oriented architecture and increasing delivery excellence of SOA solutions, many of which he has co-developed. He is responsible for IBM vision, strategy and execution of that strategy in the SOA space of emerging technologies and SOA offerings.

Dr. Arsanjani is a world recognized researcher and hands-on consultant for IBM's largest accounts in the areas of software engineering, software architecture, patterns, and intersections with artificial intelligence in areas of context-aware self-configuring architecture, dynamic reconfiguration and grammar-oriented object design.

In his role as Chief Architect for the SOA and Web Services Center of Excellence within IBM Global Business Services, he and his team specialize in harvesting and developing best-practices for the modeling, analysis, design and implementation of SOA and Web Services. He leads the internal IBM worldwide SOA & Web Services Community of Practice (6000+ members) and is the principal author of the Service-oriented Modeling and Architecture (SOMA) method.

Teaching at MUM

When asked why he enjoys teaching at MUM, Professor Arsanjani says, "I enjoy the connection with the Self. The Transcendental Meditation technique helps the students rest and then be able to focus more deeply on their studies and not get burned out."

In his "spare" time, Dr. Arsanjani can be found coaching the Maharishi School high school state champion robotics team, teaching part-time at Stanford University, or giving public poetry readings by the Persian poet, Rumi.
